SUMP PUMP INSTALLATION, REPAIR AND REPLACEMENT

Sump pumps are commonly found in the basement of homes. They are used to remove water that has accumulated in a water-collecting sump pit. Even if you don’t have regular flooding, sump pumps can be useful in any home with a basement. Just a small amount of water on your floor can do extensive damage that can cause you a lot of money down the line, as well as health problems from mold and mildew. Sump pumps can also help prevent structural damage from water built up behind your home’s foundation (hydrostatic pressure).

Basements in Lake and Geauga Counties and the Chagrin Valley area may experience flooding from a variety of reasons, including:

  • A leak or crack in your home’s basement walls
  • Poor lot drainage
  • Failure of the weeping tiles (foundation drains)
  • Overflowing eaves/troughs or leaking/plugged downspouts
  • Sewer line backup/blockage
  • Failure of an older or malfunctioning sump pump (outdated “float” instead of digital switch)

Sump Pump Installation

You may be asking yourself “How do I know if I need a sump pump?” If you answer yes to any of the questions below, you should consider discussing a sump pump installation more thoroughly with a plumbing technician.

  1. Has your basement flooded before?
  2. Do you live in a very flat area or low area surrounded by hills?
  3. Do you live in an area prone to heavy snow fall or heavy periods of rain?
  4. Do you have a finished basement containing valuables you wouldn’t want ruined by water damage or mold?

We pride ourselves on quality workmanship and a first-class service experience. Contact Kobella today to discuss basement sump pump installations and learn more about keeping your basement safe and dry. Our team installs a variety of sump pumps, a few of which are described in more detail below.

Heavy-Duty Sump Pumps

Kobella installs and repairs heavy-duty sump pumps. These sump pumps have motors with larger horsepower and are intended for basements of homes located in higher water tables. You might also need a heavy-duty sump pump to accommodate year-round, constant water flow or longer piping that discharges excess water.

Battery Backup Sump Pumps

Sump pumps are highly mechanical and will fail eventually.

This is one of the reasons Kobella Plumbing Heating Cooling recommends a battery backup sump pump. Our plumbing team services, replaces, and installs battery backup sump pumps in Geauga and Lake counties and the Chagrin Valley area. We especially recommend having a Kobella plumber install a battery backup sump pump for your home if it is in an area prone to flooding.

This battery-operated pump would operate in the event your first pump fails. Battery backup sump pumps are as powerful and effective as your primary sump pump; they switch on automatically when triggered by certain conditions. Unlike a car battery, the battery in the back-up sump pump is designed to withstand long periods without being used. Kobella plumbers are highly skilled in installing battery backup sump pumps and our equipment ensures homeowner peace of mind.

Sump Pump Repairs & Replacements

Pumps can run frequently due to a high local water table, water drainage issues, or weather conditions (heavy rainfall, spring melts), so they constantly need to be maintained. The Kobella team suggests examining equipment yearly. Some things to look for when examining your sump pump include:

  • Pipes entering the crock from the footer drains should not be under water.
  • No rocks, gravel, or other debris should be inside the crock. These should be removed immediately so they do not et sucked into the pump and cause it to fail.

Kobella plumbers are highly skilled in identifying these issues and would be more than happy to assist you with yearly sump pump maintenance and repairs. They can walk you through a discussion of the problems, why they may have happened and recommend the best approach moving forward – whether that be repairs or a sump pump replacement.

Call us today at 440-729-2099 for help determining why your sump pump may have stopped working properly, and we’ll send a plumbing technician out as soon as possible.

Tim was prompt and professional. He was very thorough in trying to find the source for our water problem and recommended what should be done. He even identified some other issues that we were not aware needed to be fixed along with a time frame for when they should be addressed and an estimate. We will definitely call Kobella again. We've used other plumbing services before but either weren't pleased with the results, were overcharged or felt taken advantage of. None of that with Kobella.
